QUADRIPARTITE 2010
The Quadripartite was held from the 25th to 28th June in Château-Gontier The three visiting countries were welcomed with 33 travelling from Murrhardt, 23 from Frome and 54 from Rabka which included the children's folk group of 21 + 4 adult supervisors. This was the first quadripartite since Rabka was officially welcomed as a member in July 2009.
The visitors all arrived on the Thursday evening, the Poles having left on the Tuesday afternoon and travelled the furthest distance of 1900km. On Friday morning the towns presented their respective videos while in the afternoon each explained their differing systems of local government. Also for the first time the young ambassadors held their meeting exchanging their ideas and then presenting their videos to the other visitors. The main social gathering was the official dinner in the evening held in the village hall in Azé to which 210 people were invited.

Points emerging from the business meeting on Saturday were mainly about Frome's quadripartite in 2011 and the fact that from September 2010 Frome was to be the lead country for one year. The Saturday evening was spent participating in Château-Gontier's annual Chalibaude festival and the Sunday involved a church service followed by a midday drinks and nibbles, various farewell speeches and thanks prior to departure on Monday morning
Meeting our European friends - Quadripartite 2011
We have a major event in the twinning calendar next year. It is Frome's turn to host the annual quadripartite meeting with our partners from France, Germany and Poland. We are expecting approximately 90 visitors this time, from Thursday evening 30 June to Monday morning 4 July, so will need a lot of help with accommodation. We are planning a programme of events for the weekend, to which hosts will be invited, if they so wish. These visits are enjoyed by hosts and guests alike, so we would like to hear from anyone who would like to join in. There is no need whatsoever for you to have any knowledge of the three languages, communication in whatever manner can be fun!
Alternatively, would you be able to assist with taxiing visitors who may be staying in hotels etc. Or do you know anyone else who might be able to help?
To assist us in planning this, it would be useful to know in advance what help is available. If you can help, could you please contact secretary Pat Oatley by phone 01373 463985, or email patriciako@talktalk.net.
We would be very grateful for your cooperation.
With thanks from
The Frome Twinning Committee
